“As a result, we thought that we should probably look into this and see if there's something in it, and that's what we did.”
Female representation
In addition, Moore spoke on how the industry could do more to increase female representation and what this could mean.
She pointed out that the benefits of representation is something she has experienced first hand, due to the fact that LifeSearch’s CEO is female and that the company has “a lot of female leaders”.
“From my perspective, that's what drew me in and kept me there and I've really found it valuable to have female role models to look up to,” she explained.
“There's not enough in the wider industry around that, particularly when it comes to industry networking events, discussions, conferences, etc.”
Moore explained that industry events are quite often overpopulated with middle-aged males, something which she points out is a common perception those in the industry have.
“That is something that everyone kind of knows and everyone generally talks about, but I don’t feel like there's enough being done to really make a big change in that,” she said.
To address this, Moore suggested greater promotion of female speakers at industry events so that they may raise their profile and share their ideas.
“I would like to see, at some of the events that a lot of the more senior people will attend, more female leaders speaking, rather than kind of segregating them.
“I would really like to actually see us all come together and be able to exchange ideas.”
