More than 300 Nationwide Financial Planning staff have joined the new service, Aegon Financial Planning.

In August 2023, Aegon announced all Nationwide colleagues who directly supported the investment business, including the financial planning managers, would become employees of Aegon UK.

Aegon Financial Planning will sit within the governance of the firm's advice arm Origen and will provide ongoing support for Nationwide customers around investment products.

It will also continue to be the Isa and General Investment Account provider of choice for all Nationwide customers.

Up until this point advice was offered via video to member technology, in branch and over the phone.

Mike Holliday-Williams, chief executive of Aegon UK, said: “The completion of the transfer marks a significant step in Aegon’s strategy to be the leading digital platform in the UK, driving forward our pension and investment propositions in our key retail and workplace markets for the benefit of all of our customers, advisers and employers.”

In August 2023, when the transfer was announced FTAdviser understood that 90,000 Nationwide customers would be contacted via post and email, with details of what the move meant for them.

Commenting at the time, Rachel Sinclair, director of mortgages and financial wellbeing at Nationwide Building Society said that the move over would be a “smooth transition” for customers.
