UK equities have long been a popular investment for UK investors, partly because of a certain familiarity with the stocks, and perhaps, to a degree a certain amount of patriotism.

But they have of late been less popular, simply because of the political dramas in Westminster and around the UK in regards to Brexit.

Long term uncertainty and political volatility has made the outlook for UK businesses somewhat uncertain, to the extent that sentiment over UK equities has dimmed, and money, according to the Investment Association has left UK funds.

But what does this mean for the UK investor? Are there opportunities left for those that want exposure to this sector?

One way to look at it is to invest in funds that short, or have some shorting capability, although opinion is mixed over whether now is a good time to use a fund that can short stocks.

Whether one believes a whole host of hedge funds are planning to short the UK economy or not, the current times have certainly made investing in the UK somewhat unpredictable.
