Terry Smith’s fund management firm Fundsmith has appointed Scott Chivers as its head of adviser sales.
Mr Chivers joins Fundsmith from rival fund house Franklin Templeton, where he was business development director.
According to his Linkedin profile, Mr Chivers worked at Franklin Templeton from 2013 and was promoted to his latest role in 2016.
Prior to joining Franklin Templeton he spent about two years in a fund sales role at M&G Investments.
Fundsmith founder and chief investment officer Terry Smith said: “We are pleased to welcome Scott to Fundsmith to focus on the fast growing number of IFAs who have chosen Fundsmith for their clients’ investments.
"He has many longstanding relationships and will greatly help our efforts to communicate Fundsmith’s long term investment approach to this investment community.”
Fundsmith has three products, the £18.9bn Fundsmith Equity fund, the Fundsmith Emerging Equity Investment trust, and the Smithson investment trust.
The Fundsmith Equity fund is the top performer in the IA Global sector over the past five years, returning 165 per cent in that time compared with 65 per cent for the average fund in the sector.
Mr Smith manages this fund, though in the past year he has stepped away from the management of the Fundsmith Emerging Equity Investment trust.
Mr Smith acts as an adviser to, but not manager of, Smithson, an investment trust that invests in mid cap companies and had the largest ever investment trust launch in the UK when it came to market in October 2018.
Mr Smith and his long-time collaborator Julian Robins, head of research at Fundsmith, set up the business in 2010.
Mr Smith had previously managed the pension fund of the stock broking firm Tullett Prebon, where he was chief executive.
