Quilter Cheviot, the high-net-worth division of Quilter, has appointed Colin Rowe as head of advice.
He will join the business in January and will be a member of Quilter Cheviot executive committee, reporting to chief executive Andrew McGlone.
Rowe will oversee the business’s UK-based financial planning team and work with other executive committee members to support the firm’s distribution strategy.
Quilter Cheviot recently received FCA approval to extend its regulatory permissions to include financial advice.
This means Quilter Cheviot and Quilter Cheviot Financial Planning will operate as a single entity from early next year.
Rowe has previously held other leadership positions in wealth management, most recently he was managing director at 7IM, prior to this he was managing director of private clients at Close Brothers Asset Management.
He said: “I am really looking forward to working closely with colleagues across Quilter Cheviot and specifically the financial planning team.
“We want to continue to build and grow this side of the business, whilst continuing to improve the service we are able to offer our external supporters, ultimately providing all clients with the expertise they require to help achieve their financial objectives.”
Meanwhile, Michelle Andrews, managing director and executive committee member, will assume a broader distribution role.
She will focus on the distribution of Quilter Cheviot’s offerings across all channels, including IFA distribution and professional services.
McGlone added: “The current political and economic backdrop requires investment management and financial planning to be working hand in hand with one another. We are committed to achieving this in the best possible way for both our own financial planners and also our third-party IFA supporters.
“As we complete the final steps to bring our investment management and financial planning businesses together to make the experience as easy and seamless for clients receiving both advice and investment management, Colin’s experience will be invaluable. He has a huge amount of commercial experience in high-net-worth financial planning and investment management, having held key strategic roles in the industry.”
